Alangaramatha Women’s Society, or The Self-Employed Women’s Development Society (Tamil Nadu, INDIA), is a community-based organization started by women who realized after a tsunami hit the area that aid would eventually discontinue. They hope to encourage the development of working women in and around Muttom Village. The project welcomes adult women to learn how to sew and generate income by making clothing to sell in the market. Participants are provided with necessary entrepreneurship skills so that they may be able to support themselves.
