St. Martin de Porres School for Cerebral Palsy

Project Coordinator:
Sister Ludovena Anyango Onyino F.S.A.

Project Overview:
St. Martin de Porres School for Cerebral Palsy (Nyabondo, KENYA) became an IPM partner in 2007.  The School was started by the Franciscan Sisters of Saint Anna in 2005. The Franciscan sisters saw that children affected by cerebral palsy were being taken to conventional schools where many of them could not cope with the learning environment.  They established a special school specifically for cerebral palsy children. The school has since grown to serve many communities. Currently the school is in need of teaching space.

Number of People Indirectly Served by Project:
The families of the children and their immediate community will be served by the school

Goals for 2010:
• The Project will give awareness to the mothers, guardians, and orphans in the community, and also educate the community about the effects of disabilities through workshops and seminars

• To construct classrooms for the children

IPM Funding Goal for 2010:
$2500
